the adaptive learning story started with edupal robot
EduPal Robot was developed after MindHeart Lab Founder's son Ed was diagnosed with Schizophrenia.
At age 18, Ed ran away from home and ended up homeless in the Skid Rowe homeless community. Ed eventually adapted to his brain challenge by studying for his GED. Inspiring his parents, he then graduated from high school. With Ed as a Co-founder working with his dad to develop EduPal Robots in the garage, MindHeart Lab was created. MindHeart's mission is to leverage the "adaptable learning" on the MakeAPal Superhero Robots to get out more robots to more kids, where kids can learn to adapt with a robot pal that adapts and learns to help these kids. The adaptable learning feature plays an important role in teaching and learning, MindHeart's PEAK AI learns more and more about the child's likes, dislikes and preferences as they games, get creative and converse on various topics.

MakeAPal has been programmed with an adaptive personality, which means that it leverages its behavior and real-world environmental knowledge around the child to guide interactions with the child. In addition, the robots are designed to be changeable to any character or animal. The more they interact, play games and communicate with robot, the sooner it will be able to adapt and cater to specific needs.

MindHeart embedded much of the education (teaching) and health PEAK (Psychology, Empathy, Anxiety Knowledge) AI Cognitive Automation Platform with our hospital and clinic partners to provide insights relative to the correlation of emotion and psychology as it relates to empathy and anxiety knowledge, decision making, behavior, memory and medication. The end result is to provide happier and more meaningful lives to kids and their parents. Our goal with MakeAPal Robot sales is to help us donate more robots to kids in underserved areas around the world, especially donate EduPal Robots www.EduPalRobots.com for kids with brain challenges like Ed and kids with ASD and other brain disorders. Today Ed still faces challenges with Schizophrenia and ADHD, but he helps design some of games and activities. We all have to adapt to this everchanging world, for some, it is more challenging.
The “MindHeart” name is derived from our mission to improve the connection between the mind (brain) and the heart (emotion), especially to help the kids and adults affected around the world with brain and emotional challenges.
20% Of Students That Fall Behind, Will Never Catch Up
Students K-5 are underperforming, there is an increased need for remote educational technology
Today, only 40% of US students test at or above proficient in math by 4th grade (Source). Even more shocking, only 35% of US students test at or above proficient in reading by 4th grade (Source). These statistics haven’t changed in the last 10 years, despite the number of efforts to close the student achievement gap. Further, it’s estimated that less than 20% of students that fall far behind will ever catch up, and kids from lower income families are disproportionately affected and lose significantly more comprehension of core skills during the summer months (Source).
The COVID-19 global pandemic will exacerbate both the number of students that test below proficient in math and reading in the upcoming 2020-21 school year, as well as increase the disparity between students from lower-income families and their peers from middle and upper income families (Source). On average, students will have missed the equivalent of at least 33% of the 2019-2020 school year, effectively doubling the deleterious impact of a typical summer break on academic slide.
